Land clearing around Mansfield, Ashland, Shelby and across north central Ohio usually is not about virgin forest. It is about ground that got away: the back half of a property that has gone to brush, a wooded edge that has marched into the field, a parcel you just bought where you cannot even see the corners. We clear it with a tracked mulcher that grinds everything into chips where it stands, so the job finishes clean instead of ending in a burn pile.
Because the machine mulches instead of pushing everything into windrows, the topsoil stays where it belongs and the finished ground is stable the day we leave. Most clearing jobs are really forestry mulching at their core. Where they differ is scope: clearing is about taking a defined piece of ground, a lot, a field, a homesite view, all the way back to usable.

Our machine eats brush, briars, saplings, and trees up to roughly six inches through, selectively working around anything bigger you want kept. That covers the vast majority of overgrown ground in Richland, Ashland, Crawford, and Knox counties. Stumps get ground an inch or two below grade so you can mow right over them.
Here is the honest boundary: we do not do excavation, grading, or dirt work, and we do not drop big mature timber. If your project needs stumps dug out for a foundation, a pad leveled, or forty-foot oaks felled, that part belongs to an excavator or a tree service. We will tell you that at the estimate, clear our part of the job, and leave the ground ready for whoever handles the rest.
The jobs we see most: new owners opening up acreage they just closed on, homeowners pushing a woods edge back off the yard, road frontage cleared so a property shows well, pond banks opened back up for fishing, and building sites knocked down to workable ahead of the dirt crew. In the hillier ground toward Bellville, Butler, and Loudonville, a lot of clearing is about hunting land: lanes, plots, and access.
North central Ohio adds its own wrinkles. Spring ground on our clay soils can be soft enough that a heavy machine leaves ruts, so on wet parcels we will sometimes recommend waiting for dry summer ground or frozen winter ground. Tracked equipment is gentle compared to wheels, and timing the work right is part of quoting it honestly.
Every clearing job starts with a walk. We flag what stays, agree on exactly where the clearing stops, and put the price and timeline in writing. Most residential clearing runs one to three days. You are not hiring a fleet: one machine, the people who own it, and a finish we are willing to stand on when we walk it with you at the end.
Compared with conventional clear-and-haul, mulched clearing usually saves real money because there is no debris handling: no loader piling brush, no trucks, no dump fees, no waiting on a burn day. That difference is why mulching has become the default way to clear overgrown ground, and it is the whole reason this company exists.
From the first walk of the property to the final one, here is exactly how it goes.
We come out, walk the ground with you, and look at what is actually growing: brush density, tree sizes, wet spots, and anything you want protected or kept.
You get a free written estimate with a real timeline. We tell you exactly what the mulcher will leave behind, down to the stump height, so there are no surprises.
The machine shows up when we said it would. We clear to your flags, work selectively around keeper trees, and grind everything else into a clean mulch layer.
We walk the finished ground together. A finish pass evens out the mulch bed, and the job is done when you say it looks right, not when we drive away.
